Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem
Russians Knights of Malta
FACT FILE: The Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Russians Knights of Malta (Sovrano Ordine di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme Cavalieri Russi di Malta - O.S.J.+R.M.) states that it is a merger with the so-called "Russian" tradition (at a guess by way of the King Peter/Pichelian Order) and the so-called tradtion of the "Ordine Militare ed Ospedaliero di S. Giovanni d'Acri e S. Tommaso" (Military and Hospital Order of St John of Acra and St Thomas). Luigi Amoroso dAragona (Grandmaster 1959-1996 [sic]) of the Order of St John of Acra and St Thomas, according to the Web page of this new St John "Order" formally abdicated in favour of Don Antonius II of Rome and Russia, giving rise to the new "Order". A kindred "Order" appears to have taken the same route of combining a King Peter/Pichelian Order and the Order of St John of Acra and St Thomas and that is Ecumenical Hospitaller Order of St. John Knights of Malta (also known as "Order Oecumenicus Hospitalis Sancti Johannis Equites Melitae and Ordine Ecumenico Ospedaliero di San Giovanni Cavalieri di Malta!) |
